Rootrainers™ Racking
Rootrainers fit onto any bench, but some of our customers have asked for a specialised system to improve the efficiency of their operations. We now offer 2 racking systems, the Commercial Pallet Rack, and the rootrainer racking system. The racking ensures that the plants gain maximum benefit from the air-pruning function of Rootrainers, by keeping the bottoms of the cells held off the ground.
The rack holds 12 rootrainer trays, suiting the Rapid, Slim or Deep models.
All trays can be easily reached from around the rack. The lower bar on the rack allows for forklift transport without disturbing the plants.
When empty, or with plants up to around 26cm tall, the racks can be stacked on top of each other, allowing for greater efficiency of space and transport.
Rootrainers™ Racking Station
Designed for the smaller grower/amateur market, the racking station allows for 8 trays to be held on two levels.
Again, this ensures that air-pruning takes place to maximum efficiency, whilst keeping as many cells as possible in a small and organised space.
- Fits 8 Trays
- Dimensions: 75cm x 43cm x 1.9m
Rootrainers™ — Giving you and your plants the best
Rootrainers™ are the perfect start for nearly all plants, especially those that are sensitive to disturbance or require deep root runs. They are ideal for growing on seeds, seedlings, plugs and cuttings. Rootrainers™ are made form 100% recycled and recyclable plastics.
In the last 20 years, over 60 million cells have been sold to professional growers throughout the world and the resulting plants are now specified in many landscape and forestry contracts.
Tildenet offers support to both large and small growers, advising on the use of Rootrainers™ for a wide variety of plants, from strawberries to potatoes, vines to date palms, conifers and Quercus.
The enormous success of Rootrainers™ since their introduction in the UK and Europe and their widespread adoption for the growing of trees and shrubs as well as flowers, fruit and vegetables, is due to the many advantages they possess for nurseyman, forester and horticulturist alike.

Quality — Rootrainers™ encourage optimum root formation including strong, straight roots, a fundamental requirement of healthy and successful growth.
The rectangular shape provides greater surface area and the grooves allow more roots to develop on the outside of the plug. The air-pruning design means no root repairs — just fibrous straight roots.

Economy — Less compost, healthier Plants! Rootrainers™ are reusable and are proven to have a long life — SIX and more years are common in many nurseries. Also books may be replaced individually when damaged without the need to discard the whole tray. Rootrainers™ mean less work and less compost.

Flexibility — Rootrainers™ are available in a number of different sizes to accommodate the widest possible range of plant species. The same outer tray is used for different sizes, except the largest (Maxi), which has its own tray.
Rootrainers™ are the only modular system which allows plants to be spaced out without re-potting.

Packing and Plant Delivery — Rootrainer plants are easily extracted from the 'open books' without 'shock' (even when frozen), for grading, packing and transplanting.
The rectangular root plugs pack tightly into uniform bundles in plastic film for safe and economic delivery. Alternatively, high value plants can be delivered in the Rootrainers™ books, which provide optimum protection, using the custom designed Rootrainers™ Mailpacks.
