slugs eat almost twice their body weight daily and this means that an average slug weighing 0.1oz is capable of consuming 1.75lbs of plant material in one season!

A large number of slugs are found underground and it is for this reason that nematodes are used to target biological control.
What is a nematode?
-
a microscopic worm which in this case hunts and kills slugs which are underground, mainly in the daytime

These nematodes will also kill snails if they come into contact with them, but this is more complicated as snails feed above the ground

Nematodes are not laboratory engineered organisms, they occur naturally in the soil, but Nemaslug boosts their naturally occurring population by millions. This boost eventually dies back to the naturally occurring number.
How is Nemaslug applied?
Is it safe and environmentally friendly?

This product is entirely harmelss to children, pets, birds and wildlife and controls all common species of slugs up to 8cm (3") in length.

Its efficacy is also not determined by the weather and will work in wet conditions as well as being active in low temperatures.
When should it be applied?

The pest is usually present throughout the year and nematodes should be applied from March through to mid- November when the soil temperature is around 5 degrees

However the product can be used all the year round under glass/indoors.

It is ideal to use the product from August through to mid-November especially when conditions prevail showing a record number of slugs. This will reduce the number of slugs overwintering and mean fewer slugs in the springtime.
Horticulturalist and journalist, John Negus says "It really works. Nemaslug kills slugs underground which is where 95% of them are to be found. Like all Nemasys products, it's safe for children, pets and wildlife and pleasingly can be used on food crops as well as the ornamental brigade"
Important Information

The product needs to be used almost immediately and the whole packet should be used in one application

The product cannot be stored for long periods of time (expiry date is 3-4 weeks from date of dispatch)

The product also needs to be refrigerated upon receipt

If you are ordering more than one box, please ensure that suitable arrangements are made for the receipt of the packages so that they do not have to go back to a hot sorting office - only the standard size box will fit through your letter box

Once your product is delivered it cannot be returned as it is a living product

Orders are dispatched on Thursdays by Royal Mail first class post to ensure delivery is made before the weekend - orders received later than 10 am on Wednesdays will only be dispatched the following Thursday

As Nemaslug is a perishable living product with an expiry date, it is recommended that you only order what is required for one application. So to save you from having to remember to reorder why not take advantage of one of our planned programmes ( 3, 4, 5 and 6 Pack Planned Programme) and leave the rest to us to start topping you up after 6 weeks
Orders for this product can only be dispatched to UK ADDRESSES, due to the time factor involved with postage and certain countries permit requirements (as these are living organisms).
